Audio Design
- an individual’s interaction with buttons, knobs, etc on a digital or physical user interface
- environmental factors such as ambient light, motion, or temperature
- time of day
- listening position
- weather
- number of people in a room
This can come to form as a generative soundtrack for a retail space; a synchronized, AI-improvised player piano ensemble; or an interactive music learning installation at a Children’s Museum.
Below are just a few examples of these possibilities. Contact us to discuss your audio design needs.
VOCES/Voices Public Sound Art Installation
As part of the Voces/Voices “Finding Your Voice” public art exhibition, 4 Chamber Sound designed a PIR (motion) sensor-based installation that played back recorded audio files when an individual walked into the gazebo at Pine Island Park in Pine Island, NY. The files were recordings of children of various ages from Pine Island’s Dulce Esperanza Summer Enrichment Program (kids of migrant farm workers) speaking, singing, making noises, and expressing themselves in whatever way they wished; essentially, giving the children an opportunity to “find their voice” and letting that be heard by exhibit attendees.
Barile of 4 Chamber Sound reflects: “Every person, big or small, young or old, has something important to say that is meaningful to them and deserves to be heard by others. Too often we are afraid to speak up out of fear for how others may respond. This artwork gives youth a chance to express themselves anonymously to an audience that can only listen.”
Coming Soon! The Rock Underground Music School - Interactive Music Installation
4 Chamber Sound is partnering with The Rock Underground Music School to develop an generative, interactive music installation in multiple school lobbies, lounges and waiting areas. Scanning a QR code will bring music school guests to a mixing interface of buttons, toggles, dials and sliders that control the playback of an immersive, generative musical soundscape that will both joyfully delight its players and supplement learning of important musical concepts. Installations will also feature hardware buttons and knobs for an engaging tactile experience. More updates, demonstration and walkthrough to follow after installation in Fall 2024.
